The Story So Far

1999 Reel People was formed

Rob had a dream to form a club for disabled anglers on a regional and national level. He convinced Tina and Keith of the merits of such a venture. They all put in some money to get it off the ground. The name Reel People came about during a community group project when Colin suggested the name as a great play on words. The name stuck and a logo and constitution was drawn up. Rob's baby was born!

The first Committee

The first structured committee meeting took place at Dent's, Hilgay on the 21st January 1999.

The committee/Trustees adopted the constitution and Reel People was officially formed.

Celebration of Angling-Millennium 2000

The Day had finally arrived Millennium 2000

The Mayor of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, Mr Paul Brandon attended the day and commented that he had never known such camaraderie amongst sports people. This camaraderie remains as part of the nucleus of what makes Reel People the friendly, successful club it is.

73 Anglers take part in Millennium 2000

73 anglers took part in what was a truly magnificent day. 45 disabled adults fished in the main match. 9 junior anglers, abled-bodied and disabled and 19 people from local day centre's took place in the come and try sessions.
